Lisa Sherych
Lisa retired in August 2025 after a 25-year career in Nevada state government. Lisa’s public career includes more than two decades of service within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and a combined total of approximately 3 ½ years as an Executive Branch Auditor within the Governors Finance Office and Deputy Legislative Auditor for the Legislative Counsel Bureau. Under the DHHS, she served in several leadership roles to include Administrator of the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Deputy Administrator -Developmental Services at the Aging and Disability Services Division and Hospital Administrator of Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services. During her time under the Governor’s Finance Office, she was appointed Interim Administrator of the Purchasing Division to assist during a difficult transition period.
Lisa has a strong background in behavioral health, intellectual and developmental services, policy, compliance, quality assurance and performance improvement, often tasked with handling sensitive and high-profile matters. In Lisa’s various roles across her DHHS career, she has been described as a thorough, unbiased, ethical and effective leader that has worked well with stakeholders throughout Nevada.
Lisa previously served as the Secretary for the State Board of Health, Secretary of the Commission on Behavioral Health, member of the Western Psychiatric State Hospital Association, Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, Advisory Committee on Medicaid Innovation, Interagency Council on Veteran Affairs, and selected to serve on a National Taskforce addressing transportation issues for individuals with disabilities. In addition she was selected and responsible to facilitate the Medical Advisory Team appointed by the Governor to provide expert assessments and recommendations to better mitigate and contain COVID during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lisa was born and raised in Canada where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology and a Minor in Women’s Studies. She moved to Las Vegas where she resided for approximately 15 years, obtained her MBA and worked under the Mental Health and Developmental Services Division. She then transferred to Northern Nevada where she has resided for the past 13 years.
